In 2009, NatureUganda organized its first Conservation Conference as part of its centenary celebrations. This conference was aimed at bringing together conservation practitioners in Uganda to share information on the past, present and future of conservation work in Uganda. The conference attracted many players and lead agencies in conservation to define priority areas and make recommendations for future conservation and research priorities in Uganda.
This conference was a contribution to solving the challenge of having a knowledge gap between researchers, academicians and the general public by providing an opportunity for Ugandan scientists to showcase their findings.

Presentations included research papers and poster sessions by various individuals from key conservation institutions and lead agencies in Uganda. Topics ranged from Wildlife management, community conservation, waste management, climate change through to environmental education and cultural values of natural resources. As a result of the success of this conference, it was recommended that a conservation conference be organized by NatureUganda every two years to provide an opportunity for scientists to showcase their findings since all full papers are produced in the proceedings that are widely distributed.
This year's Conservation Conference will take place on 24th - 25th May 2012, under the theme "Biodiversity Conservation and Management in Uganda".
NatureUganda therefore invites the general public to submit abstracts on in-depth analytical research and practice that address biodiversity conservation and management issues in Uganda in relation to: SPECIES, SITES and HABITATS.
Abstracts should be a maximum of 300 words and should be submitted not later than 31st March 2012.
You can download the abstract submission form and bring it to NatureUganda head office or send it as an email attachment to nature@natureuganda.org not later than the above date. Abstracts received in time will be vetted and any decisions will be communicated. For further details, contact NatureUganda. |
