Welcome to Nature Uganda
NatureUganda at one of its Explorer schools
  On the 4th of June 2011, NatureUganda was invited by one of its explorer schools, Joseph’s Girls S S S Nsambya to a Wild life Club function. The school identified topics for discussion as indicated below:
  • Causes of Biodiversity loss that was to be discussed by the Education officer.
  • Challenges of Conserving Bio-diversity by NatureUganda.
  • Involvement of the Youth in Bio-diversity conservation by Wild life clubs of Uganda.

The Executive Director (Mr. Achilles Byaruhanga) gave a presentation on challenges of conserving Bio-diversity. He explained to the students the key words i.e. Biodiversity, challenge and conservation. He then indicated the challenges faced while conserving Biodiversity like population growth, poverty, ignorance, inequality, pollution, marginalization and cultural challenges. He also highlighted on the international pressures like international trade, macro economic policies indicating that they too have greatly affected the conservation of Biodiversity.

In response to the challenges indicated above, he identified steps/ measures that can be undertaken to solve the problem  among which was sustainable development, positive use of the resources for the future generation, enforcing strong environmental laws, encouraging local control over resources and encouraging sustainable development projects.

The days function was crowned with tree planting (fruit trees) by the president of wildlife club and representatives from NatureUganda.
