NatureUganda has in the past received a number of awards and recognition for the accomplishments the organisation has made in the field of conservation and development. These include:
- Whitley Award for BirdLife Conservation sponsered by the Studs Trust
- Lake Victoria Environmental Award from the UN HABITAT and LVRLAC
- Environmental Leadership Award from The Eastern Africa Environmental Network (EAEN)
- Blue Swallow Silver Award from The BP Conservation programme.

Princess presents top conservation accolade to NatureUganda's Jimmy Muheebwa
In recognition for his work to improve livelihoods and wetland management in the Ugandan catchments of Lake Victoria, and create better habitats for the region’s wildlife, including Uganda’s national bird, the grey-crowned crane, Jimmy Muheebwa was awarded one of the world’s top prize- a Whitley Award 2010- by HRH the Princess Royal (Princess Anne).
This is the second award courtesy of NatureUganda’s conservation work. The first one was awarded to the current Executive Director of NatureUganda, Achilles Byaruhanga, in 2005 by HRH the Princess Royal (Princess Anne). This award included a project grant of £30,000 - donated by The Shears Foundation.
