NatureUganda participates in the World Wildlife Day Celebrations

The 10th United Nations World Wildlife Day Celebrations was held on 3rd March under the theme; Sustaining all wildlife in Uganda for the present and future generation. World Life Day is an opportunity to celebrate the many beautiful and varied forms of wild fauna and flora and to raise awareness of the multitude of benefits that conservation provides to people. The celebrations also prompt urgent need for different stakeholders to mitigate threats to wildlife largely human induced. Because NatureUganda implements programmes on conservation in partnership with other stakeholders including communities, the wildlife day celebrations presented an opportunity for NatureUganda to showcase its contribution to fauna and flora conservation. It was therefore justified that NatureUganda became part of the nationwide celebrations aimed at promoting actions to reverse biodiversity loss.

NatureUganda’s participation in this event was directed at; creating awareness on how to Sustainably conserve all wildlife for present and future generations on earth, creating awareness and information on conservation of cranes on wetlands using school children and the general public and increasing NU’s image through participation in International and National partnership events.

A series of events to mark the day were organised and they included the Conservation Conference, Cranes festival, Kisoro town cleaning, Wildlife Conservation Dialogue, Primary school competitions and the wildlife celebrations. Enjoy the rest of the story in pictorials.
